About the Houston Barbecue Festival
Now in its fourth year, the Houston Barbecue Festival will continue to showcase the best that Houston barbecue has to offer to a growing and diverse audience of barbecue lovers.

"Houston continues to be the hottest barbecue market in Texas,' says J.C. (Chris) Reid, festival co-founder and Houston Chronicle barbecue columnist."We expect to see a lot of Houston-inspired dishes this year along with the Texas trinity of brisket, ribs and sausage."

This year's festival will feature most, if not all, of last year's list of the who's who of Houston's best barbecue. Currently confirmed are: Blake’s BBQ, Blood Bros. BBQ, The Brisket House, Brooks’ Place BBQ, CorkScrew BBQ, El Burro & the Bull, Fainmous BBQ, Feges BBQ, Gatlin’s BBQ, Gerardo’s, Lenox Bar-B-Que, Pappa Charlies Barbeque, Pinkerton's BBQ, Pizzitola’s Bar-B-Cue, Ray’s BBQ Shack, Roegels Barbecue Co., Spring Creek Barbeque, Tin Roof BBQ, and The Wooden Spoke.

A new participant this year is BBQ Godfather which has developed a loyal following in Spring and The Woodlands. Additional participants will be announced at a later time. A record number of 24 barbecue joints are expected to participate.

Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor and Bryan Bracewell of Southside Market in Elgin will be making guest appearances and serving barbecue.

In addition to more barbecue and beer, the festival will also expand its musical offerings. This year's event will be headlined by southeast Texas native Jesse Dayton. Dayton has built a cult following around the globe playing festivals in North America and Europe with his guitar-shredding, country-infused, Americana sound. More info atwww.jessedayton.com.

This year's premier sponsors represent two of Houston's most recognizable brands. Saint Arnold Brewing Company is Texas' oldest craft brewery and a long-time supporter of Houston barbecue. Pitt's & Spitt's has been building consumer and custom barbecue pits for Houstonians and international customers alike since 1983.
