What: Inaugural Sam's Club® National BBQ Tour – 30 teams from across Texas and the country competing for a shot at the Regional Event in Fort Worth on July 15-16 and ultimately, a chance to compete in the National Championship in Bentonville, AR, on Oct. 14-15 (total of $400,000 in prize money).
When & Where:
AUSTIN
Thursday, May 12: KCBS Honorary Certified Barbeque Judges' Class from 6-8pm at Sam’s Club, 4970 Hwy. 290 West, Austin, TX.
Saturday, May 14: Judges' meeting at 10am at Sam's Club. Judging starts at noon.
CONROE
Thursday, May 19: KCBS Honorary Certified Barbeque Judges' Class from 6-8pm at Sam’s Club, 2000 Westview Blvd., Conroe, TX.
Saturday, May 21: Judges' meeting at 10am at Sam's Club. Judging starts at noon.
The class ($100 value) will feature BBQ prepared by Sam's Club BBQ Chef, Troy Black. In addition to sampling award-winning BBQ from teams throughout the country, you will learn all about KCBS and its judging criteria in the four competition categories – chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork. In order to judge the event on Saturday, you must attend the judging class on Thursday evening.
The first 10 people to email me who want in on the event in Austin & the first 20 people who email me who want to take part in Conroe will snag spots. NOTE: Please do not email me unless you are able to, and intend to, attend both the class and the cookoff.
UPDATE: All 10 spots for the Austin cookoff have been filled, but plenty of space is available for the Conroe cookoff.
