Up & at 'em! We're starting today's tour with a Franklin Barbecue brisket & some Thirsty Planet Brewing craft beer. Then, we're off to Black's Barbecue and Hops & Grain Brewing and then finishing the day at SLAB BBQ. Twitter updates throughout the day via @ManUpTexasBBQ & @TexasQTours. First visit to SLAB BBQ (Austin, TX)

A couple of weeks ago, Brad and I had a long-overdue lunch with our friend and Statesman food writer Addie Broyles. We dined at SLAB BBQ, and it was the first visit there for each of us. Sliders, The Tony Montana, pork ribs, The Country Hash, green-bean casserole, and twice-baked potatoes.

Yesterday, a new BBQ trailer came to Austin. SLAB BBQ ("Slow Low & Bangin'") is located at 9012 Research Blvd. They're having a grand opening August 14. Check out their Facebook and Twitter pages.
