Stiles Switch preparing new concept

The Statesman's Matthew Odam reports on the new concept on the way from Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew:
The owners of Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew in North Austin are building a second concept that will be in the Belterra Village development off US 290 at Nutty Brown Road. The restaurant won’t be “Stiles Switch 2,” according to the owners, but will expand on the current menu and add Southern cuisine via a menu designed in collaboration with one of the city’s best chefs, Lenoir owner Todd Duplechan.
The pit crew will continue to be led by lead pitmaster Lance Kirkpatrick and include Stiles Switch BBQ veterans Andy Stapp, Alanmykal Jackson and Bill Dumas. The restaurant is slated for a fall 2017 opening.

BBQ changes in Austin

Mike Sutter has a great piece about a couple of recent moves in the world of BBQ pitmasters. Bill Dumas, the pitmaster at Smokey Denmark BBQ, will leave Smoke Denmark on October 30 and join the team at Stiles Switch on November 1. Kennan Goldis, formerly of Goldis Sausage Co. and currently working under Bill at Smokey Denmark, will take Bill's place. Read all about it.

Hump-Day Dinner at Stiles Switch

Had dinner Wednesday with a new friend from Denver. He landed in Austin, got a rental car, & drove straight to Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew, where I was waiting to meet him. It was his first visit there. After counter samples of beef rib, brisket, & jalapeno-cheddar sausage, each of us ordered a 3-meat plate. Between us, we had brisket, jalapeno-cheddar sausage, turkey, & pork ribs. And we nabbed a beef rib. We had 2 orders of macaroni & cheese, corn casserole, & lemon-vinaigrette coleslaw. Bread, pickles, & onions, of course. Check it out:
