First visit to Blanco BBQ (San Antonio). On our table (top to bottom): pulled-pork sandwich (Pulled pork served pre-mixed with sauce.), sausage sandwich with creamed corn, pulled pork & baked potato with cheese, pulled pork with green beans & macaroni & cheese, half chicken, pulled pork, green beans, & steamed broccoli, sausage sandwich, half chicken & pulled pork.

Had the brisket and sausage (they make their own sausage), beans and slaw.  I stick to what I like.  

Beautiful facility and very down home atmosphere.  Food was delicious.  Another great find on my travels in the great state of Texas.

BTW, I stopped by Choke Canyon BBQ up the street north on Blanco, but they’re not open yet.  (see picture)  Hopefully soon." 

Blanco Road beefing up its BBQ options

A couple of months ago, I announced the opening of Blanco BBQ, on Blanco Road in North San Antonio. Now, I announce the soon-to-be-opened Choke Canyon Bar-B-Q, just a few miles north of Blanco BBQ on Blanco Road. From what I can tell (Please correct me if I'm wrong.), this is the 2nd location of Choke Canyon Bar-B-Q. The first location is in Whitsett, TX. If anyone has (1) been to Blanco BBQ and/or (2) has any additional information on Choke Canyon Bar-B-Q, send it our way!

Blanco BBQ set to open in San Antonio

Yesterday, driving down Blanco Road in San Antonio, I passed Blanco BBQ, a soon-to-open BBQ joint. The sign said they are opening in mid-July, so if they're on schedule, should be a matter of days. You can stay up to date via their Facebook page. The address is 13259 Blanco Road. It's just south of Loop 1604. If you're traveling south from 1604, it's on the right. Phone #: (210) 251-2602.
