Best BBQ in Round Rock?
The 30th-biggest town in Texas is Round Rock, just up the interstate from Austin. Of all the BBQ joints in Round Rock, which is the best?

Curly's Carolina, TX (Round Rock, TX) is closing.
I'm sorry to report Curly's Carolina, TX is shutting down. Sunday is its last day. I hate to see any BBQ joint close, especially when it's run by such a great person. I wish Jay and all of the Curly's family nothing but success in the future.

Curly's Carolina Texas, a blending of Texas & North Carolina BBQ, has been in the works for a while. Angus brisket from Full House BBQ (Round Rock, TX)
I happened upon another BBQ trailer in Round Rock last Friday, while stopping for lunch at, you guessed it, a BBQ trailer. Full House BBQ is located in the food-trailer park at 500 N. Mays St. in Round Rock. Open Tues-Sun from 10a-8p. Met the owner, Robert, and sampled a couple of slices of the Angus brisket he smokes. Check out the menu, and find them on Facebook & Twitter.

Friday lunch at Curly's (Round Rock, TX)
Formerly next to the UT campus in Austin, the pink trailer that is Curly's Perfect Pig is now parked in a food-trailer park on 500 N. Mays St. in Round Rock. I stopped by Friday, on my way to Dallas. Filled up on pulled pork, cucumber salad, & pan-fried cornbread. They don't serve fresh-brewed iced tea, but I had one with me, as you can see. Roll Tide.

VooDoo BBQ & Grill opens in Round Rock!
I'm a little late to the party on this one, but VooDoo BBQ & Grill is now open in Round Rock. It's a BBQ franchise out of New Orleans, and it's their first Texas location. July 9 was their grand opening. I haven't been but have eaten at VooDoo in New Orleans. Anyone been to the Round Rock location? (Follow them on Twitter.)

Sunday lunch at Johnny T's BBQ (Round Rock, TX)
Brad and I had lunch yesterday at Johnny T's BBQ in Round Rock, with Johnny T himself. Had a nice time getting to know John, whom I met for the first time at Gettin' Sauced! We feasted on brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, turkey, sweet-potato fries, beans, tamale-potato casserole, and green beans (with onions and red peppers). Take a look (1st of 2 rounds of pics):

R.P. hits up Schoepf's & Johnny T's in one evening.
A recent email from Russell:
Had to run to Waco this evening. So figured I better man up @ Schoepf’s & Johnny T’s while up this way.
Can't beat new atmosphere of Schoepf’s. They actually had a bluegrass country gospel jam session going on back patio. Their pork ribs r mighty flavorful but could be meatier.
Brisket is tasty even if not really my style...a bit roastish.
Johnny t's provided a southern style home cooking surprise. Very flavorful and well marbled moist brisket. Mighty fine pulled pork and spicy apple slaw. I think we need to give this place future consideration for an official visit. It may well be a hidden gym in that A- to B++ type range.
RP on the road.

J-Pa goes it alone at Johnny T's in Round Rock.
Jason hit up Johnny T’s in Round Rock, the first time any of us has hit up this joint. Here’s his email, recounting his visit:Ok…So I just got back from Johnny T’s. I must say it was quite good.
Very moist brisket, pork ribs and some dang good pulled pork! It seems very artificial though; it’s to moist for traditional smoking; maybe the use those modernized smoker boxes…I got the 3 meat plate; w/ 2 sides – green beans and potato casserole. Pretty tasty sides. They got great reviews on yelp for their desserts I was too full to eat that; but I would def. go back to this place.
Brisket was good – very moist; reminded me of the time I had iron works and the brisket was just crazy moist! 8.9. It was lacking that meaty flavor though… you guys know what I mean?
Pork rib – different – too moist and looked different from other pork ribs we get. It almost looked like it was boiled; no charring… and light in color; it was crazy moist as well…Almost wonder how they smoke these things…8.9
Pulled pork – this isn’t a Texas thing; but this was Awesome! They got lots of yelp reviews saying it was good…and yes it was good! 9.5. I’ve had pulled pork before in Chicago…but come on…it’s Chicago we’re not known for BBQ; just steaks!
Overall pretty good; clean establishment; actually pretty small; a big sized group of man up would fill the place. Highlights: they have a pickle bar! Pickled okra, long pickle as well as sliced pickles and pickled jalapenos. Good stuff! I did notice sweet tea was 93 cents for you tea lovers. Price range was decent I got the 3 meat plate for 10 something…I’m stuffed now.
Overall. 9. I’d come here again…. I want to try the dessert: ‘chunky monkey parfait – chunks of brownies, sliced bananas w/ banana pudding’ CRAP kind of regretting I didn’t get it to go…..Ok…just the name and description of the dessert made it jump up a point…9.1
