"Backyard BBQ" with no mosquitoes!

I want to let my readers know I've opened a mosquito-control franchise in San Antonio. Mosquito Authority started in North Carolina and has been rapidly expanding westward. Our five-step, proprietary “REPEL+PLUS" program is so specific that it can rid your property of mosquitoes without killing beneficial insects like butterflies and honeybees. Our certified technicians treat your property with a proprietary, safe-for children-and-pets product that lasts for 3 weeks. We will continue the recurring barrier-treatment program every 21 days, and we offer a 100%-satisfaction guarantee. If you ever experience bites, we will be back within 48 hours for a re-treatment, free of charge. And no contract is ever required, so there is no commitment. The treatments are available March through November. We offer discounts for full-season payments.

Again, there is no commitment, so if you’re interested in a mosquito-free yard this summer, we’d love to provide you with a proven treatment and top-notch, personal customer service. And with the threat of the Zika virus and other dangers mosquitoes pose, protecting you and your family from mosquitoes has never been more important. To learn more about our service and to schedule your first yard treatment, call (877) 249-5044.

I know many of you spend time in the yard smoking meat, so I wanted to let you know about my company. And, as always, if you smoke meat in the backyard (or front), please send us pictures for our "Backyard BBQ" feature!

Brisket at a Spurs game!

I had the great fortune of court-side seats for Sunday's game between the Mavs and Spurs. With the seats came access to dinner beforehand at the arena. Sliced brisket was among the items on the buffet. #GoSpursGo

Pulled-pork sliders at Slider Provider

This week, for the first time, some of my family and I visited Slider Provider, a San Antonio food truck. A very user-friendly concept, in that you pick one of their several named sliders (which vary according to the toppings) and then pick whether you want it with beef or grilled chicken. In addition to 2 beef & 1 grilled chicken slider, we had 3 pulled-pork sliders. They weren't on the regular menu, so I don't know how often they serve them. According to their website, their menu changes regularly. We were outside, and it was dark, so the pics aren't great.

First visit to Oaks Crossing (San Antonio, TX)

On Tuesday, I paid my 2nd visit to the new HEB at Hardy Oak & Wilderness Oak in San Antonio. It's the nicest HEB I've ever visited, BTW. While there, I paid my 1st visit to Oaks Crossing, HEB's restaurant inside the store. They have a diverse menu (from spaghetti bolognese to street tacos to Neapolitan-style pizzas to shrimp & grits), including a whole Texas BBQ section. They smoke their BBQ in-house, with post oak for up to 13 hours, according to the menu. I ordered a loaded baked potato with smoked chicken and a side of "chopped brisket," which, it turned out, is actually chopped brisket mixed with sauce. Just a heads up, in case you're not expecting sauce when you read "chopped brisket."
