The Srumptious Chef's Pop Up 2.0

Austin's very own R.L. Reeves, Jr., a.k.a. The Scrumptious Chef, is back with another pop-up event this Sunday at noon at Three Little Pigs and East End Wines (1209 Rosewood Avenue, Austin). In addition to such soul food as chicken, wilted greens, grits, rice, black-eyed peas, and cornbread, there will be Texas BBQ favorites like brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. The Q Card turns 1!!!

Believe it or not, today is the 1-year anniversary of The Q Card! I can't believe it's been a year since we launched. I'll spare you the chronological recap of the year and just say that we're still here and have no intention of going away. We started this thing with the intention of creating a product that would celebrate Texas BBQ and benefit businesses and consumers. This remains our intention.

Our goal was to (somehow) reach 100 affiliates before the end of this first year; as of last week, we did it. (See a list of our affiliates here.) As it has been since the beginning, any Texas BBQ joint, caterer, or BBQ-related business in Texas is eligible to become an affiliate. As of a couple of weeks ago, Texas-style BBQ joints/caterers and BBQ joints who have Texas BBQ on their menu may join us. If you know of a place that would be a good fit, by all means, help us by encouraging them to join.

As always, you can get updates (new affiliates, events, etc.) via Twitter, Facebook, and The Q Card's blog. We'd love for you to join us at our next launch party, to be held on Sat, June 25, at The Sugar Shack BBQ on E. 6th St. in Austin. We'll also be making an appearance at the Texas Monthly BBQ Festival and at Gettin' Sauced!

In honor of our big day, all cards purchased today are 2 for the price of 1 (no limit). Lastly, The Q Card would not exist without all of our wonderful affiliates and card holders. To each of you, we offer our sincerest thanks. With that, Year 2 is underway!!!

Details: The Q Card and WB Saloon & Cycles are teaming up with Old School BBQ & Grill to throw the baddest BBQ bash Blanco has ever seen. Combining The Q Card's official launch party for Old School and WB Saloon's monthy First Saturday Party, this will be a whole day of BBQ, drinks, live music, and good times. Also, the party will serve as a meet-and-greet for the social-network site "Biker or Not." Come and go as you please. The Q Card will be there selling cards for a few hours, starting at 10 AM (We'll be running a special on cards, so it's a great time to buy.). Old School will start serving its smokey school-bus BBQ around 1 PM. The music goes til midnite. Plan to be there, people!!! RSVP via Facebook (but RSVP not required).
