Texas BBQ Wannabe: 85

*Every so often, with my Texas BBQ Wannabe posts I remind readers that we are not actually calling these places "wannabes." We love seeing Texas-style BBQ joints outside of The Lone Star State; and if we find ourselves in any of these places, we're stopping in!

85. Wayne's Smoke Shack (Superior, Colorado) - True Texas BBQ

"After many years of experimenting with new recipes, Wayne moved to Colorado in 2009 where his local quest for BBQ began. In opening Wayne’s Smoke Shack, Wayne set out to bring his creative Texas style BBQ to his new home of Colorado. Wayne’s Smoke Shack began out of a love of good BBQ. Throughout his childhood, Wayne was fortunate to live in Central Texas where BBQ is plentiful and brisket is king. As his love of delicious smoked sausage and melt in your mouth brisket grew, Wayne began to BBQ regularly in the backyard."

As a teaser, here are the locations of the 10 spots:

Cuvee Coffee is official coffee sponsor of Gettin' Sauced!

One of our favorite local businesses is Cuvee Coffee. Aside from putting out a high-quality product, owner Mike McKim and the rest are great people. That said, we are thrilled to announce that Cuvee Coffee is the official coffee sponsor of this year's Gettin' Sauced! festival! The United States of Barbecue

July 4, as we all know, is not a bad day to form a country. So, let's do it. Let's ordain & establish The United States of Barbecue! I need to know two things: (1) Which of the 50 U.S. states make the cut for this new smoked-meat nation (Pick as few or as many states as you feel deserve it.)? (2) Which city will be the new nation's capital (No ties, people!)?

Gimme some Backyard BBQ pics!

Send me your brisket, pork butt, etc. pics, and I'll see what I can do about getting them some blog time. To see what folks have sent me thus far, click here. Thanks, in advance!
