Post-Houston BBQ Smackdown, we headed a few blocks down the street to the recently-opened Phil's Texas Barbecue to watch the U.S. square off against Ghana. It's a big, pristine space. Like a new car, no wear and tear on it yet. It's got a dining area near the cafeteria-style BBQ line, and the other end of the sprawling place has a full bar, with a bunch of bar tables nearby. Not your typical Texas BBQ joint, it's more of a, well, restaurant and bar. Other than one bite of a pork rib, I didn't eat, so if there's anyone out there who's eaten at Phil's, let us know if, as their slogan says, "It's why Texans brag."

my friends went and posted some of their thoughts in this thread. There's some other reviews on the thread and pictures. It was agreed they have good sides and restrooms but the meat sucks.
