Event Announcement: 1st Annual "BBQ Bowl"

BBQ and high-school football: Does it get more Texan?!?! The Elgin and Lockhart Chambers of Commerce are teaming for the 1st Annual "BBQ Bowl." Prior to the game between Elgin and Lockhart on Friday, October 23 (7:30 pm), at Elgin's Wildcat Stadium, 4 BBQ joints from Lockhart and 2 from Elgin will be gateside, with samples of their finest fare. Representatives from The Republic of Barbecue will also be in attendance, with copies of their book (which is being released on Thursday, October 22, at Central Market North in Austin); and Man Up Texas BBQ will be on site, handing out flyers and cards, looking snazzy in our Man-Up gear, etc. Don't miss out on what is sure to be a fun pre-game. The event starts at 6:00 pm.

Sounds like a great time! I hope to be there.

My money would be on Lockhart in the BBQ bowl. Lockhart vs Luling would be a tighter contest.

Oh the puns! The game "pits" the two teams. One holds the other's feet to the "fire." It will go on and on...

"Come watch, as each team tries to smoke the other." As the son and grandson of lifelong high school English teachers (and the best grammarians I know), I appreciate the puns, Elizabeth!

After the great BBQ in Elgin is triumphant, it is Lockhart that will take a 'ribbing'.Our brisket will run 'rings' around them. And they won't have the 'guts' to challenge our sausage again. OK, enough already.
