Which Texas city has made the biggest BBQ stride?

In the 6+ years I've been in Texas, I've seen big improvements, BBQ wise, in several cities. Perhaps you have, too. I'm interested to know which Texas city you feel has made the biggest BBQ strides in the past few years. If, say, 5 years ago, you invested money in each Texas town to help improve the BBQ scene, which town would have given you the biggest return on investment? Tell me how/why the city you choose has progressed more than the rest.

Austin, without a doubt. Now the best barbeque city in the state - for both quality, and quantity of high quality.

Reply to me via Facebook: "Austin. Franklin BBQ has forced everybody to raise their game, and several pitmasters have responded to the challenge. And because so much other good stuff is happening around Austin the last few years -- local economy, SXSW, F-1 -- the rest of the world has taken notice."

Reply to me via Facebook: "Dallas. Pecan Lodge wasn't forced to raise their game because of Franklin."

Reply to me via Facebook: "I would have to disagree with all of the above. I agree that it would have to be Austin. However, The influx of great bbq in the city is not a result of Franklin causing them to step up their game. I have yet to visit an establishment that has actually "stepped up their game" and became better. There are several very good bbq joints in Austin. These aren't joints that stepped up their game. These are new joints with new ideas and better culinary skills. The mediocre joints will slowly disappear if they don't step up their game though. After eating at 39 of the 2013 Texas Monthly Top 50, Austin is leading the way IMO. Dallas has plenty room for improvement and the rest of the state is asleep at the pit. Michael, Google John Lewis and go pay him a visit."

Reply to me via Facebook: "Austin. Check out Stellar Gourmet. Their pecan and spicy BBQ sauce is to die for. Their seasoning for rubs (OMG...chili churri) is sooo good."
