QOTD: Is jerky more Texan than BBQ?

“While we’re smacking, let me submit a modest proposal: It’s jerky, not BBQ, that deserves top meat billing in this state.” (from Jerky Boy, by Brad Tyer)

So, which is more Texan: BBQ or jerky?

BBQ....
Jerky is a side project.. that's what you do when you have excess meat!
Most jerky i eat in Texas is deer jerky.. i can't say I've ever had deer brisket.
well maybe deer sausage though.

Remind me of the last time someone came to Texas just for the jerky?
