Living in Canada I have not yet gotten a taste, but I know in my BBQ heart of hearts and from what I've heard from other meat-eaters in the know - Meyer's Elgin Smokehouse is the best little smokehouse in Elgin! (Sausage - I am coming for you)
I grew up in Elgin and the best BBQ was from Crosstown, the owner made the best sausage, brisket and ribs. Unfortunately he passed away a few years back and so did the business. Crosstown is where the locals ate at. I haven't had BBQ in my hometown since crosstown went out of business. In this case neither are that good.

Twitter reply: Southside "wins by a landslide. Better meat market also."
Meyer's Elgin Smokehouse. Can't beat the kickin' sausages, sauces, hot sauce and the oh so tender brisket.

Twitter reply: "Southside, a local tells me, but the better choice is Zimmerhanzel's in nearby Smithville..."
