The Salt Lick Trailer (Downtown Austin)

The Salt Lick now has a trailer at 1901 Rio Grande. Anyone been? If so, would love to hear your thoughts. So, by my count, you can visit TSL at their main location in Driftwood, in Round Rock by the Dell Diamond, at the Austin airport, and at 1901 Rio Grande.

Went last night and ordered up a storm. The food is delicious, but it's not the same as Driftwood, meaning they focus more on sandwiches, tacos, quesadillas, and posoles (?).

Here are some deets that I was able to take away:
Open from 11am - 8pm, Mon - Fri. Definitely will be open on Saturday, not sure about Sunday. It's in a sweet Air Stream trailer and they are going to be there permanently, as in not moving from spot to spot during the day/week. There was some talk of live music and possibly free beer (no license to sell, but he can give away).

Definitely check it out. I plan on reviewing in my blog today.

I didn't know it was there. I made it down to Driftwood last weekend for the first time. Excellent ribs and Turkey. Brisket was a little dry for my liking. Otherwise, an amazing place with great BBQ and unique atmosphere. Worth the trip to Driftwood from Austin.

I will add that they just opened on Saturday 11/20, and I forgot to mention they have their awesome potato salad. It sounds to me like they're going to be letting things naturally evolve rather than come in with a hard and fast plan for how to do things. Good move if you ask me.

Also, I THINK they take credit cards, unlike Driftwood, although I paid with cash so I'm not 100% sure.
