QOTD: What's your favorite BBQ-sauce base?

What's your preferred base for BBQ sauce? Tomato? Vinegar? Mustard? Fruit? Something else? Don't tell me that you don't use sauce. If that's your preference, then weigh in here.

I have two:

(1) Combination of soy sauce, chinese mustard and garlic powder

(2) Soy sauce, Adams peppercorn rub + garlic powder, worcestchire sauce (like 6 drops) and Mesquite liquid smoke (used this on chicken tonight)

Tomato sauce gives you more room than ketshup to tweak the ingredients.
