la Barbecue Gameday Giveaway: Week 1

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK!!! If you're like I am, you're pretty excited this weekend. Also, if you're like I am, you like Texas BBQ and free stuff. So, put all of those together, and what you have is our Gameday Giveaway.

Starting today, each Friday of the regular college football season, we'll announce a giveaway. Each week, the person who most closely predicts the final score of the game of my choosing wins some Texas BBQ! For your prediction to be counted, it must include (1) the winner & loser, (2) the final score, & (3) the total yards for the two teams, which will be used in case (1) & (2) lead to a tiebreaker. Also, your prediction must be submitted before kickoff. Sooo, let's get to it. Here's our Gameday Giveaway for Week 1:

Game: New Mexico State at Texas - 7:00 PM Central (I was going to go with Rice at Texas A&M, since it's 2 Texas teams, but it's an 11:00 AM kickoff, which leaves much less time for you to submit.)

Prize: Sandwich & side item from Austin's very own la Barbecue

Well, jump on it. To submit, leave a comment below this post, email me, or submit via Twitter or Facebook. Our sincerest thanks to la Barbecue, whose generosity makes this giveaway possible!

UT beats NMSU by 37-7. Although NMSU scores first, letting them lead for awhile. There is a combined 800 yards of offense, although 90 of that comes on NMSU scoring play on a breakaway run, and they only managed another 150 yards for the whole day.

Just for grins, I say it's an upset. UT gets a gianormous lead and puts their 3rd string in, only to have NM play balls out and win by a field goal. Final score UT 42 NM 45...hey, a Texas Tech Red Raider can dream, right? :o)
